my hero academia Season 7 is on the way and some think this could be the end of the series.

Season 6 of my hero academia got its final in March. The season was a landmark for the hit superhero anime. It brought many changes to the main characters as well as some very impactful plot developments. Fans already have teasers for what’s to come in the show’s next season. It should happen before too long. However, could this be the end of the anime? Some fear that, at a minimum, Season 7 will mean goodbye for a while.

Season 8?

Season 7 does not have an official release window at this time. Still, many fans assume that the first episodes will start airing around this time in 2024. Indeed, Bones, the studio responsible for developing the series, tends to release new seasons fairly regularly around a year after the previous finale. .

The question is whether or not there will be enough manga by the end of Season 7 next year for Season 8 to begin production. Season 6 adapts material up to volume 30 of the manga. Currently, there are only 37 volumes in print, with plans to release volume 38 in June. There are around four new volumes released for the manga every year. So the question is whether or not there will be enough manga by the end of season 7 to start production on season 8.

It seems that if things are progressing at the usual rate, the answer should be yes. The manga will probably be up to volume 41 or 42 by the end of season 7 in 2024. This means that if the season covers six volumes of material, there will still be five or six volumes to adapt. Keep in mind that six volumes in a season is not a regular thing for the show. Past seasons have gone by covering fewer volumes.

So when does it end? Creator Kohei Horikoshi is currently working on completing the series. So at some point unfortunately the anime will run out of material and will have to end the series.

It seems, however, that fans are still a long way from that ending. Horikoshi confirmed towards the end of 2022 that he did not want to end the story as soon as he originally planned. The anime might start having problems after season 8, however, as Horikoshi is getting closer to not being able to release new chapters fast enough to meet each season’s rotation time.
