“The POA promptly put the employee on leave and, in accordance with standard operating procedure, shut down communication with the POA. No other POA employees participated in the alleged conduct or had prior knowledge of them. The Board of Directors has expressed its sadness and disappointment at this development and has vowed to support the authorities conducting the investigation wholeheartedly.
A request for comment from PEOPLE was not immediately answered by the San Jose Police Officers Association. According to the US Attorney’s Office, Segovia could receive a maximum statutory term of 20 years, 3 years of supervised release, and fines of up to $250,000.
