Wee Smokers beat two police officers to get a 1,000¢ bribe

A gang of notorious ‘small’ smokers are currently on the Ghanaian police redlist after beating two police officers to a pulp for an alleged 1,000¢ bribe.

The suspects identified as Antwi Kofi (leader) fugitive, Kwame Poku (aka OPK) Kenkey (a lady), Maame Yaa and 3 others have been arrested.

This was after a viral video which captures a gang numbering around ten subjecting the two officers to severe beatings.

The community police officers identified as Owura and Exhibit took an amount of GHC 1000 from the gang and claimed that they were sent by the community police commander as a fee to bail out one of the gang leaders who was in custody after his arrest for his involvement in a crime

Speaking on Angel FM in Kumasi, Abisim Daman Electoral Area Assembly Member Hon Ransford Osei confirmed that the money was indeed taken by the two community police officers to help them release the one of their gang members who had been arrested for smoking weed.

The incident happened in two separate communities Juaben Asokwa and Juaben Abisim respectively.

He noted that after giving the money to community policing personnel, the gang expected their member to be released, but none of that happened a few days later.

They then went to inquire about the problem with the police command, but were told that no one had sent them (the community police) to take this money.

This confirmation from the police made the weed gang lose their temper and went to the houses of these community police officers, dragged them outside and started beating them.
