Arlington Police have completed the search for Lamar High School and will begin releasing the students shortly.
According to Arlington ISD, all students will be bused to a reunification center at the AISD Athletics Center (1001 E. Division Street) where parents/guardians can pick them up beginning at 12:00 p.m.
All family members who come to the Reunification Center must bring photo ID and enter the building through the Natatorium.
UPDATE (9:15 a.m.):
At approximately 6:55 a.m. this morning, the Arlington Police Department responded to the Lamar High School campus after receiving multiple reports of gunfire just outside the school building.
Two students were injured and are currently receiving medical treatment.
We don’t believe the alleged shooter ever entered the school. Officers were able to locate and take this individual into custody shortly after arriving at the scene.
The school day usually doesn’t start until 7:35 a.m. – and therefore school was not in progress and not all students had arrived on campus when this incident occurred.
Again, our partners at Arlington ISD will post additional student release information once the lockdown at Lamar HS has been lifted.
Original report:
This morning we responded to Lamar High School to investigate a reported shooting outside the school building.
The scene is now secure and we have the alleged shooter in custody.
Parents, please seek information from our partners at Arlington ISD regarding the release of students. Lamar High School is currently closed and you will not be allowed on campus. Although there is no longer an active threat, according to our protocols, agents must clear the entire building, which may take some time.
