Tom Sorrells is an American Emmy award-winning meteorologist who serves as the chief meteorologist at WKMG (News 6) in Orlando, Florida, United States. He appears on the 4 pm, 5 pm, 5:30 pm, 6 pm, 7 pm, and 11 pm newscasts on weekdays.
Sorrells has worked across television stations in Columbus in Ohio, Detroit in Michigan, and Howell also in Michigan Area. His great work has been recognized greatly with a number of awards.

Sorrells began his career in June 1991 at WBNS-TV in Columbus, Ohio, United States. He was recognized by The Associated Press which honored him with the Best Weather Operating Award. He later joined WDIV-TV in Detroit, Michigan in October 1995. In 1996, he served as a meteorologist at WHMI-FM, Livingston Radio Company.
Tom earned the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval and also the National Weather Association Seal of Approval for his talent in providing accurate and personable weathercasts. Sorrells offers accurate weather reports pinpointing storms and tracks them hour by hour as they make their way through Central Florida.
He started “Talk Back to Tom,” during the Florida hurricanes of 2004. This is a segment where people from all over Central Florida made a call and got answers about the movement of dangerous storms and how to keep themselves and their families safe.
Sorrells earned an Emmy Award in 2002 for his work in meteorology. The award highlights Tom’s talent and skill to present and communicate weather forecasts in an understandable and appreciative way.
