We are well familiar with Atz Lee Kilcher and Jane Kilcher from the Discovery TV series “Alaska The Last Frontier.” Atz Lee is the black sheep of the family, a subsistent hunter while his wife Jane Kilcher is a registered nurse and former commercial fisherman who only fishes for the family now. The way they live self-sufficient life growing their own vegetables, hunting animals, and collecting fish for a living is a thing of admiration.
Apart from lifestyle, the other aspect of the couple that grabs attention is their personal life. Atz Lee and his wife Jane Kilcher are married for more than 15 years and are known to have two children, a son Etienne and a daughter Piper. Atz Lee Kilcher and Jane Kilcher do not have kids together
Jane Kilcher and Atz Lee have shared selected information about their personal life. The two are childhood friends and in the years following it turned into much more and later marriage. Jane openly admits part of the reason she fell in love with Atz Lee was because of his musical sense. Atz Lee can sing and play guitar. However, before getting hitched Atz Lee and Jane both went through a failed relationship.
Atz Lee and Jane were previously married. Jane gave birth to a daughter Piper with her ex-husband Dicran Kassouni. Similarly, Etienne Kilcher is the son of Atz Lee from his ex, Nantia Krisintu. Despite Atz Lee and Jane sharing a long marriage, they are yet to bear any children together.
A quick bio on Etienne and Piper Kassouni
Etienne Kilcher is the eldest of two, born on May 12, 2001, and Piper was born on June 4, 2003. Both the children are familiar with Homestead life. Fishing, hunting, raising chickens, and growing vegetables are a few self-sufficient traits of Homestead people, and as expected of Kilcher children Etienne and Piper grew up in such an environment. On the academic side of things, Etienne attended South Anchorage High School and graduated in 2019. Possessing a stature of 6 feet 1 inch, Etienne was active in sports during his freshmen years in high school where he played football. Currently, in his 20s, Etienne is in a relationship with a girl named Paige and been vocal about how she has influenced his life in a positive way. In his own words, Etienne wrote a post on Instagram praising his girlfriend saying;
“Forever grateful the universe brought you to me💜 everyday I spend with you, I become a better human. These past 6 months have been better then any dream I could have dreamed. Thank you for pushing me, supporting me and unconditionally loving me. You are my world, my queen, my multiverse.”
Moving on to the youngest child, Piper Isolde Kassouni grew up in Homer, Alaska. She was active in swimming and was with Kachemak Swim Club during the 2013/14 season. On September 23, 2020, Jane Kilcher shared photos of her on Instagram from her senior high school. Since Piper has completed high school and currently pursuing her college.
Reason Piper and Etienne Kilcher did not appear on the TV show
The Discovery show “Alaska The Last Frontier” follows the homestead life of the Kilcher family as they work hard to sustain a self-sufficient living in Homer, Alaska. Etienne and Piper are the fourth generation Kilchers after their great-grandparents Yule Kilcher and Ruth Weber pioneered their way to Homer, Alaska from Switzerland to escape the tension of the second world war. So, it only makes sense for Etienne and Piper to follow the legacy and appear in the show. Nonetheless, the children did not first appear on the there’s a reason behind it.
Like any other normal parents, Jane and Atz Lee have been protective of their kids and have taken a slow approach. In order to fend off internet trolls associated with fame Jane and Atz Lee kept their children away from the reality show Alaska The Last Frontier. On January 29, 2018, Jane came up with a Facebook post to explain the situation surrounding their kids and why they had not been on the show.
“I’ve been overwhelmed lately of people realizing we have children … that are not on the show… We are so proud of our kids, Piper 14 and Etienne 16, they are not a secret…we just keep their lives private and away from the AWFUL internet trollers ,ETC…but as they get older you may see them (on their own volition ) on an episode or two…. after I have made sure they can deal with all the craziness!!!!”
Once Etienne turned 18 Jane welcomed the idea of him appearing on the television show and left the decision to him. Both the kids have appeared in several episodes of Alaska the last frontier.
In 2022, Etienne left Homer, Alaska to find a career path of his own. He is currently pursuing education at a college in Southern California. With Etienne away from Homestead it is less likely for him to be part of the coming seasons of Alaska the Last Frontier.
