The Nun II made a heavenly debut at the fall box office after taking in an estimated $32.6 million across the U.S. and Canada.
The Warner Bros. horror film, which is the latest release in The Conjuring Universe, rang up $13.1 million on Friday, $11.8 million Saturday and a projected $7.7 million Sunday, Comscore reported.
Overseas, The Nun II earned $52.7 million for a global opening of $85.3M. That’s more than double the film’s reported $35 million-$40 million production budget.

The sequel follows Sister Irene as she once again comes face-to-face with the demon nun. The R-rated thriller stars Taissa Farmiga, Anna Popplewell, Bonnie Aarons, Jonas Bloquet, and Storm Reid. Michael Chaves directed the film.
While moviegoers snapped up tickets, they weren’t exactly impressed with what they saw, and the film only managed a “C+” CinemaScore from audiences.
Still, it pushed The Equalizer 3 out of the top spot.
After opening in first place last weekend, the Sony Pictures release from filmmaker Antoine Fuqua slipped to second place with $12.1 million. To date, the Denzel Washington-led vigilante justice sequel has earned $61.9 million in North America, bringing its worldwide total to $107.7 million.
Another sequel made the top 3 as well. My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 opened in third place with $10 million, Comscore reported.
The first film in the franchise debuted in 2002 and earned $367 million worldwide. The latest installment from writer, director Nia Vardalos follows the Portokalos family as they travel to a family reunion in Greece. The film stars Vardalos, John Corbett, Andrea Martin, Lainie Kazan, Gia Carides, Louis Mandylor, Joey Fatone, Elena Kampouris, Maria Vacratsis, and Melina Kotselou.
The Hindi-language thriller Jawan opened in fourth place with $6.1 million Friday through Sunday. The film stars Nayanthara, Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Vijay Sethupathi, Sunil Grover, Sanya Malhotra, and is directed by Atlee Kumar.
Barbie rounded out the top 5 with $5.9 million in its eighth week in theaters. The Warner Bros. film from writer-director Greta Gerwig has made $620.4 million through Sunday, and is the top-earning domestic movie of 2023. Worldwide, the film starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling has earned $1.4 Billion.
