The performer known for winning Season 18 of the popular singing competition show has revealed she’s back to where she started before appearing on the FOX TV show. Diaz used to sing in subways and on street corners to get by.

Their place on american idol somehow saved their lives, so it’s shocking that three years later they’re struggling to the point that they’re back to begging for money on the streets.

The 24-year-old Harlem native shared the news on her new social media channels, and although she initially felt “super embarrassed” to be in that position again, she had no no other choice. They “legitimately needed the money”, and not performing on the streets was more “optional”.

The realization set in with Sam that they had “fallen so low” since winning the Idol. It all started when they battled an unknown illness last summer. Diaz shared on IG Story that “they have so much” more to reveal, “but there’s not much” they’re “allowed to say.”

The message continued. “I promise you I will say more very soon. For now, I will say thank you very much to everyone with my back. Thank you very much to the people who show me nothing but love and support. THANK YOU ALL FOR PATIENCE!!!!It’s needed and appreciated.

Despite the drastic turn Diaz’s life has taken, they manage to talk about positivity and share it with their followers. “I woke up with so much love that I can’t do anything but cry like a baby and say THANK YOU to everyone. Thank you so much.”

Seeing that they have a decent following on IG, they use it to grab attention, advertise where they can be found singing that day, and even share videos of their singing sessions on the subway.

Diaz said they don’t usually publish their CashApp, they leave it up to those who want to donate to search for them. Sam said it was because they already felt bad for asking others for help after winning such a large sum.

We’re all dying to know what happened to her incredible $250,000 cash-in, record deal, and mentorship. Diaz did not share this information, but as they previously mentioned, they had fallen ill.

We could assume the money went to hospital bills. Diaz left her followers a sweet message. “Watch how the Lord transforms all of this and watch me CONTINUE TO GIVE ALL THE GLORY TO GOD! There are things that God is about to do for me that no one else can do or stop from happening. I have so much faith 11!!”
