Singer and dancer DaniLeigh arrested for drunk driving and hit-and-run

Singer and dancer DaniLeigh was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and hit and run early Tuesday morning in Miami Beach, Florida, following an accident that left a motorist on a moped with a kidney laceration and a fractured spine, authorities said.

The victim was transported to Ryder Trauma Center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the police report obtained by Urban Hollywood 411.

DaniLeigh, real name Danielle Leigh Curiel, was driving a gray Mercedes Benz G550 when the accident happened and is said to have fled the scene.

“At approximately 12:53 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 11th Street and Washington Avenue regarding an accident involving a vehicle and a scooter,” the police report said.

The singer is known for her single “Tasty” and shares a young daughter with rapper DaBaby.

Witnesses said they saw the artist watching the accident unfold. A woman told police the Mercedes was “driving at high speed and weaving through traffic”.

A woman reported seeing the vehicle hit the moped.

“The vehicle did not stop,” the report said. “The moped got stuck in front of the Mercedes for about a block.”

A male witness also saw the crash, noted the Mercedes’ registration tag and alerted a nearby patrol car.

The report says the patrol car spotted the Mercedes three blocks away, but the driver refused to stop.

The officer “had to honk several times” and eventually the driver stopped at the 1600 block of Washington Ave. The police report said the arresting officer “could smell a strong odor of alcohol emanating from the vehicle.”

The “Tasty” singer took two breathalyzer tests and had blood alcohol levels of 0.145 and 0.148, nearly double the legal limit.

The Miami-based singer was convicted on three counts, including leaving the scene of an accident involving grievous bodily harm; driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs; and injure someone while driving under the influence. She has since been released on $9,500 bond.

Curiel was mentored by Prince until his death in 2016 and choreographed ex-boyfriend DaBaby’s music video for “BOP.”

The incident comes after she made headlines during a 2021 altercation involving DaBaby.

The rapper told police in Charlotte, North Carolina that he was assaulted by Curiel. She was charged with assault.
