Sera Congi is an American Emmy and Murrow-award-winning journalist who serves as a reporter at for WCVB Channel 5 in Needham Heights, Massachusetts, United States. For over twenty years, Cong has covered news in New England.
In 2017, Congi got the opportunity to speak with fellow journalists in Jinan, China. She was part of a group with the University of Missouri giving presentations about television reporting to journalists in at two broadcast stations there.

Congi began her broadcasting career as a Desk Assistant at CBS News for the Northeast Bureau in New York City. She also contributed to the news magazine show Eye to Eye with Connie Chung. In October 1994, she joined WCAX-TV in Burlington, Vermont, United States as a news anchor. There, she anchored the award-winning 6 and 11 PM newscasts. She won several awards for her work as the news team’s medical reporter. Her considerably notable work was investigating a hospital corruption scheme known as ‘Burlington’s Big Dig’. She earned an Edward R. Murrow award for her coverage of Vermont Governor Howard Dean’s presidential run.
For ten years, Congi served as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor at WBZ News. She has covered stories that are considered to be a big deal for the Boston area which include the Whitey Bulger Trial, the Watertown Manhunt, the Market Basket Stalemate, and the Marathon Bombings. Sera covered several Presidential primaries in New Hampshire and the shootings in Newtown, and Connecticut.
Congi joined WCVB-TV in November 2014 as a news reporter. Congi has also covered important stories including the escape of two prisoners in Dannemora, New York, the murder of a Google executive in Princeton, and the historic snowfall during the Winter of 2015. Sera was featured on an episode of ABC News’ 20/20 “Can Words Kill?”. The episode looked at the controversial texting suicide case in Massachusetts. It included her extensive coverage and perspective of the Michelle Carter trial.
