Rex Reed is a television personality, occasional actor, and film reviewer from the United States. He presently writes a column for The New York Observer called “On the Town with Rex Reed.” He graduated from Louisiana State University with a journalism degree in 1960.
He subsequently began reviewing films and plays for the university’s newspaper, The Daily Reveille, as well as the Baton Rouge newspaper, The Morning Advocate. He traveled to New York City after graduating from LSU, intending to find fame as an actor. However, the journalist was employed by 20th Century Fox’s publicity department.
