Ray Petelin is an American journalist, working with KDKA-TV as a meteorologist, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He appears every Saturday and Sunday evening on News 4 at 6:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. and joined the station in October 2018.

Petelin attended The University of Akron, where he graduated with a B.A. in Communications and Marketing. He then joined Mississippi State University where he earned a Meteorology Certificate in Broadcast Meteorology.
Ray Petelin Career
Petelin worked for WTAE-TV as a meteorologist before joining KDKA-TV. Since 2011, he has been forecasting in Pittsburgh and since January of 2002 in Western Pennsylvania. He has also worked forecasting weather from Parkersburg, WV to Erie, PA, and is familiar with the Pittsburgh region’s micro-climates and lake effect snow. Ray has also served with Oe Caribbean Weather. He served as a broadcast meteorologist at WSEE-TV, and then as a weather anchor and news anchor at WTAP-TV. WKYC-TV later hired him as a news assistant. He had started off as an assignment editor at WFMJ-TV. Petelin holds seals of approval from both the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.
