Met Police are assessing video of Laurence Fox burning LGBTQ+ buntings in her garden.
Fox, who is preparing to run for Boris Johnson’s Uxbridge and South Ruislip constituency, used a lighter in his home to set fire to the display on Father’s Day.
An outraged Twitter user claimed he reported the video to police as a “hate crime”, which Fox called “arbitrary nonsense”.
The actor-turned-political activist added, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reporting me.”
Fox previously said the flag in its video – which is Progress Pride’s version created in 2018 – “has nothing to do with the original Pride flag which was meant to represent the hard-fought gay rights that everyone would support. “.

Fox burned the flag in his backyard yesterday in a stunning stunt during Pride Month.
Dressed in a t-shirt with the image of a rainbow above the phrase ‘Comes Before A Fall’ – implying the message conveyed was ‘Pride Comes Before A Fall’ – Fox said : “The holiest month of child mutilation. This is what I think of your disgusting and despicable child sacrificial flag.
‘Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye Pride, who isn’t Pride. It’s just a celebration of child mutilation. And you can push it.
The video sparked an outcry on Twitter, including user Matthew who wrote: ‘I have submitted this video to the police as a hate crime. This man has gotten away with it for far too long.
What is the Progress Pride flag and why has it caused controversy?
The flag Laurence Fox burned was the Progress Pride flag, designed by artist Daniel Quasar in 2018.
This is a variation of the original Pride flag designed by Gilbert Baker in 1978, which had stripes colored to evoke a rainbow – this being a symbol of hope.
Quasar, who is a non-binary American designer, has previously said his version has an arrow pointing to the right “to show forward movement” and to illustrate that progress towards inclusivity “still needs to be made”.

The Progress Pride flag has right-pointing black, brown, pink, pale blue, and white stripes. The flag aims to represent marginalized LGBTQ+ people of color, as well as trans people and people living with HIV/AIDS.
But the flag has caused divisions within the LGBTQ+ communities – with some saying Baker’s original pride flag didn’t need to be changed, while others say it was necessary to represent the communities marginalized.
Concerns have also been raised by LGBTQ+ people of color that there was insufficient community consultation before the flag was created, but Quasar has denied this.
Much of the debate also dates back to the addition of the “T” in “LGBT” in the 1990s, with some arguing that the LGB community should be limited to sexual identity only, not gender identity. The Q was later added for Queer in 2016, with the “+” to represent those who do not identify with any of the letters of the acronym.
A new version of the Progress Pride flag was made by Valentino Vecchietti of Intersex Equality Rights UK in 2021, which featured a yellow triangle and a purple circle to represent intersex people.
Fox fired back, saying he hoped the police would “visit me.”
“I look forward to them explaining to me that I committed a hate crime by burning an icon of child mutilation, but the doctors who cut off the vulnerable and healthy breasts of young girls and the penises of young boys didn’t,” he said.
“I’m done negotiating with the mutilators. I tolerate just about anything, but child sacrifice is an absolute red line.
“You can call it gender affirmation care, you can blackmail the parents saying ‘would you rather have a dead son or a living daughter?’
“You can write about how crazy I am, I don’t care, and neither does the truth. Because that’s just it. The truth.’
He concluded: “People are tired of having this rubbish shoved down their throats. If I believed in such arbitrary nonsense as “hate crimes”, I would expose you for supporting the destruction of a young life. ‘
A Met Police spokesman told MailOnline today that officers were ‘aware of a video posted on social media of the burning of the Pride flags’.
The force is currently evaluating the footage and investigations are ongoing.
The Progress Pride flag has black, brown, pink, light blue and white stripes that aim to represent marginalized LGBTQ+ people of color, as well as trans people and those living with HIV/AIDS.
The flag has caused division within the LGBTQ+ communities – with some saying Baker’s original pride flag didn’t need to be changed, but others including Quasar arguing it needed to represent marginalized communities.
An updated version of the Progress Pride flag was created by Valentino Vecchietti of Intersex Equality Rights UK in 2021 which had a yellow triangle and a purple circle to represent intersex people.
Fox’s video generated nearly 10,000 likes and 2,000 retweets in the first 16 hours after it was uploaded – as well as 2,000 comments, some of which criticized Fox for being a “sad man” and “looking for something.” ‘attention “.
He captioned the clip, posted just after 7pm on Father’s Day: “My friend brought me child mutilation buntings. He got the treatment he deserved.
It showed him using a lighter in his backyard to set fire to the screen which appeared to have already been coated in flammable liquid.
Fox then posted a second clip this morning on Twitter titled, “Apparently I’m Trending.” Many thanks to all of you for this honor.
In this second video he said: ‘This flag, the Progressive [sic] The pride flag has nothing to do with the original pride flag which was meant to represent the hard fight for gay and lesbian rights, which everyone would support.
“And also in this country we have a flag that unites everyone – gay, straight, lesbian, white, black, yellow, red, green, thin and fat. It’s called the Union Jack and it represents all of us, and it represents secular liberal democracy.
“What this cult flag represents is the mutilation of children’s healthy tissue and convincing them of a lie that a boy can become a girl and a girl can become a boy. This is the foundation of language – the difference between man and woman.
“Now the woke left may want to try to play with these terms, but sane people know that girls can’t become boys and boys can’t become girls, and sane people find hateful that a doctor or anyone or a parent would allow their child to be mutilated in any way.
‘So you can keep attacking me all you want. It makes no difference to me because I live in the truth. So if you have a problem with me burning a flag that celebrates child mutilation, then maybe you have a problem yourself.

It comes after Fox returned to Twitter unrepentant in June after being suspended for posting a swastika made from LGBT flags.
He is now preparing to race in the race to replace Boris Johnson as MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip in west London.
His acting career has taken a back seat in recent years as he made a name for himself as a political activist, but he appeared in Hunter Biden’s film My Son Hunter last year.
Fox has also been candid about Covid vaccines, and a doctor told him “I sometimes wonder why you exist” during a heated debate on GB News in April.
