A foodie said Woolworths offered shoppers the “best” rotisserie chicken, after testing for heat, freshness, tenderness and seasoning.
Ben, from Perth, was craving a delicious rotisserie chicken but didn’t know where to buy his meal.
To save himself trouble in the future, Ben bought a roast chicken from Coles and Woolworths ($12 each) and measured them against each other.
After tasting the breast, a piece of skin, a drumstick and the stuffing from each chicken, the foodie finally declared the roast chicken at Woolworths to be ‘better’.

A foodie said which supermarket offers shoppers the ‘best’ rotisserie chicken – and its taste spanned heat, freshness, tenderness and seasoning
The foodie shared a now-viral video of his tasting process.
“Well, here we are,” he began. ‘Woolies, Coles – who’s got a better hot chook? Let’s see!’
Ben revealed he wanted to put the two supermarkets “to the test” once and for all.
The Perth man bought the two roast chickens with timestamps as close as possible – but Coles already had an advantage.
The ‘Coles’ chook was literally taken out of the oven, into the bag, zipped up and given to me. Perfect deposit,” he said.
But the foodie revealed the Woolies were ‘on par’ because their rotisserie chicken was also ‘just as fresh’.
Ben’s method was to taste the chicken breast first, followed by the skin, a drumstick, and finally the stuffing.
The foodie first tasted the Coles chicken.
“Look at this, it’s beautiful,” he said after taking a bite.
Ben tasted the different elements of the meal and was satisfied at the end of it.
When he switched to Woolies Roast Chicken, he immediately revealed that it “looked” better.
After tasting the two chooks, Ben’s judgment was clear: he preferred the Woolies meal.
“Taking into account heat, coolness, tenderness, succulence, seasoning – all of the above and more,” he said. “I have to say the Woolies make a better hot chook.”
But thousands in the comments disagreed.
“Coles have the best roasted chooks in my opinion,” one woman wrote.
“Costco $6 chooks beat them both,” one man said.
“IGA is the best – hands down,” wrote another.

Meanwhile, a Coles spokesperson has revealed the supermarket giant is ‘tremendously proud’ of its range of RSPCA-approved hot roast chickens.

“Our Hot Roast Chooks have attracted a loyal following as a staple meal, and we’re always on the lookout for new, innovative flavor combinations to take our Hot Roast Chooks to the next level.
“All Coles Hot Roast Chooks are 100% Australian RSPCA approved and roasted in store daily for a convenient on-the-go meal option.”
