One dead, three injured in shooting outside Trader Joe’s in Southern California

Update: LAPD arrested the suspect who abandoned their vehicle and fled to another after shooting and injuring 3-4 people, killing one, in the parking lot of a Trader Joe’s grocery store.

An investigation is ongoing into a shooting that took place in West Hills on Saturday afternoon.

One person was killed and three others were hospitalized following the incident.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear, but according to the Los Angeles Police Department, an unknown assailant opened fire on the three victims in the parking lot of a Trader Joe’s on Vanowen Street shortly before 3:45 p.m.

All of the victims are adults and one was pronounced dead at the scene, while the others were taken to hospital. Police said at least one of the victims is in critical condition and another in serious condition.

The suspect reportedly fled before law enforcement arrived and there is currently no description available of the suspect.
