Police have confirmed that a shooting allegedly took place Monday afternoon at Rose State College in Midwest City, which left one person dead and one person arrested.
Police say a male suspect and a male victim were involved in a domestic affair that led to a shooting near the administration building.
The shooter was apprehended. The Midwest City Police Department had officers on campus, who quickly responded to reports of the shooting.
Upon arrival, they confronted the armed suspect and ordered him to surrender the weapon, which he complied with, as Porter testified.
Midwest City Police Chief Sid Porter confirmed the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Porter also assured that the situation had been brought under control and that there was no longer any possibility of an active shooter.
Currently, details regarding the identity of the victim and shooter have not been released.
Rose State College authorities shared a social media post urging students and faculty to find a safe place to take shelter and comply with law enforcement directives.
The post said there was a current occurrence of an active shooter situation on campus and advised individuals to stay put until further guidance is provided. Additional information will be communicated as it becomes available.
