Michael Ovitz ( Full Name: Michael Steven Ovitz) is a popular American businessman, investor, and philanthropist who is the owner of Broad Beach Ventures LLC, a Venture Capital Fund he launched with James Ellis in 2010. In 2018, Michael released a memoir titled Who is Michael Ovitz? recounting his work at the Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and his short stint at The Walt Disney Company. Previously, Michael co-founded Creative Artists Agency (CAA) in 1975 and worked as chairman until 1995.
He resigned from CAA in 1995 to serve as president of The Walt Disney Company under chairman Michael Eisner. Michael quickly grew frustrated with his work in the company and vague definition of duties. Following a tumultuous year as his second in command, he was dismissed by Eisner in January 1997 and left Disney with a (former agreed-upon) severance package valued at $38 million in cash and an estimated $100 million in stock.
