Meghan Markle received a £15,000 bracelet, first seen on the eve of her wedding, as a gift from King Charles to welcome her into the Royal Family. The stunning piece of jewelery was created for the Duchess by Royal Warrant Holders Bentley & Skinner.
Comprised of ninety-two round brilliant cut diamonds, weighing a total of 2 carats, set in white gold, may have cost up to £15,000.
The touching gesture from Prince Charles, who would walk the future Duchess down the aisle in place of her own father, was a fitting way to welcome Meghan into the family given Bentley & Skinner’s royal connection.
The jewellers, based in Burlington Arcade, Piccadilly, London are jewelers appointed by King Charles, as at the time also to Her Majesty the Queen.
The company began supplying jewelery to the royal family during the reign of Queen Victoria. He created aristocratic jewelry, including a diamond crown for his wife Louisa Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire.
Meghan wore the bracelet often in her early days as a member of the royal family, and it was officially revealed that it was a gift from Charles during Meghan and Harry’s first royal tour of Fiji.
Prior to this, Meghan had worn the gift during Charles’ 70th birthday celebrations as a tribute. It appears the Duchess of Sussex hasn’t worn the gift for almost a year.
According to style blog Meghan’s Mirror, the mum-of-two last wore the bracelet on April 17, 2022, during the Invictus Games in The Hague.
She wore the bracelet with a chic white blazer, jeans, designer sunglasses and heels. But since the Duchess has favored other jewels.
This includes a £20,000 Cartier tank watch in gold, given by Prince Harry to whom his late mother, Princess Diana, left the piece. She matched the piece with her Cartier Love bracelet, £6,600.
It’s unclear why the Duchess has given her bracelet from Charles to the jewelry box at this time, but a lot has changed for the Royal Family since she last wore the bracelet.
When Meghan last wore the bracelet, she and her husband were filming for their long-awaited Netflix documentary series, which ended in August 2022 just months before Harry and the Duchess attended the National Thanksgiving Platinum Jubilee Service in June 2022. Sadly the Queen passed away in September 2022.
In December, Harry and Meghan aired on Netflix, making headlines for weeks. In the documentary, Harry and Meghan accused the offices of other working royals of briefing the press against them during their time as working royals.
