Summer Walker features her new real-life boyfriend, Lil Meech, as her sidekick in her new “Pull Up” video from her new project, Clear 2: Sweet Life.
The R&B singer dropped her new EP on Friday, May 19, featuring guest appearances from J. Cole, Solange, Childish Gambino, and more. One of the singles featured on the project is “Pull Up”, for which she released a music video with Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr playing the role of her boyfriend. Myles Truitt, another BMF actor, also co-star in the visual of the single.
Truitt stars as Summer Walker’s boyfriend in the 3-minute, 17-second music video directed by Lacey Duke. The cut begins with Walker fixing a plate to her boyfriend as she attends to his needs in the evening. However, as soon as he falls asleep, she sneaks off to meet her boyfriend on the side parked outside, who happens to be BMF star Lil Meech, with whom she is currently in a relationship.
The singer ended up spending the whole night with Meech while her boyfriend was inside her house.
“Stop, pull me over and let the seat back, oh / Put your doobie out, roll down the window, let ’em hear us, oh, oh, I ain’t ashamed of you, oh, oh, ” she sings. “I ain’t tryna play no games with you / You just fill my mind, you got me so into it.”
The song and video have received positive feedback from fans since their midnight Friday release, with some fans praising Summer Walker for dropping authentic R&B music at a time when the genre is far overshadowed by hip hop.
“The reason Summer Walker is successful is because her music is authentic. She has built a loyal fan base on consistency and is not swayed to look like every artist. I pray that one day my music can reach masses like Summer. But for now I’m just happy to be a fan,” one fan wrote.
