New Delhi:

A female judge suffered head injuries in a suspected robbery by two men on motorbikes in the Gulabi Bagh area, north Delhi, police said today.

The men allegedly snatched his bag containing cash and essential documents, they said.

The case came to light on March 7 after the woman’s underage son, who was accompanying her at the time of the alleged theft, reported the incident.

Two people on a motorbike snatched the woman judge’s bag, which contained around Rs 8,000 in cash, documents and an ATM card. The goons pushed her during the attempted abduction, which resulted in injuries to the woman’s head, the complainant alleged.

A case has been registered under sections 394 (willfully injuring oneself while committing robbery) and 34 (common intent) of the Indian Penal Code and an investigation has been opened, police said.

With the help of technical surveillance and human intelligence, a team from Gulabi Bagh police station apprehended defendants Dilshad and Rahul, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi said.

Dilshad was found involved in 10 criminal cases, including robberies and kidnappings, while Rahul is a first-time offender, he said.

The police also seized the motorcycle used in the crime and recovered the ATM card and Rs 4,500.

With their arrest, the police claimed to have solved six cases.

Reacting to the incident, the head of the Delhi Women’s Commission, Swati Maliwal, tweeted in Hindi: “Crime in Delhi has increased so much that now every man or woman walking on the road is dangerous.

It is very shameful to have a fight with a female judge in Delhi. Those responsible for keeping women safe spend time trolling women.
