Joshua Topolsky is an American technology journalist, a DJ, and a record producer going under the name Joshua Ryan. He is well known for being the co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Verge, a technology news network. Topolsky was previously the editor-in-chief of Engadget.
Topolsky began his career in 2007 at the technology blog Engadget as the editor-in-chief. He then joined Vox Media inc. as the Vice President from April 2011 to August 2014 in New York.
After he resigned from Engadget as editor-in-chief in March 2011, he became the technology correspondent for NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and then The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
He later began a new site called This Is My Next, a temporary job for him and his co-workers from ex-Engadget as they built a new technology network. It included a wide diversity of technology news, reviews, and editorials. My Next consisted of previous Engadget editors and contributors including Joanna Stern, Chris Ziegler, Paul Miller, Nilay Patel, among others.
On November 1, 2011, Topolsky and his team launched The Verge and he became the founding editor-in-chief. He left The Verge in 2014 and joined Bloomberg LP as the Editor, Chief Digital Content Officer. From 2016 to 2020 he was the Editor in Chief of The Outline.
