Jennifer Lopez and Omari Hardwick go after bad guys with guns in Netflix trailer The mother.
Lopez leads the cast of the thriller as “The Mother,” an army-trained assassin who comes out of hiding to protect the daughter she abandoned years earlier while on the run from dangerous men.
In the trailer released Tuesday, Lopez tells Hardwick that she left her daughter “with good people to protect her.”
Unfortunately, the criminals eventually find the girl.
“What do they want?” Hardwick asks. “Revenge,” Lopez replies. “They’re using it to get at me.”

After years of hiding in the Alaskan wilderness, “The Mother” is suddenly forced back into action.
“I am a killer. But I am also a mother and I will die protecting her,” Lopez says as she fires gunshots and sets off explosions.
The cast also includes Joseph Fiennes, Lucy Paez, Paul Raci and Gael García Bernal.
The film is directed by Niki Caro (The zookeeper’s wife, Whale Rider) from a screenplay written by Misha Green, Andrea Berloff and Peter Craig. Green was showrunner on the critically acclaimed HBO series Lovecraft Country.
Lopez is a producer on The motheralongside Benny Medina, Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, Marc Evans and Misha Green.
The film was originally supposed to be released last year, but faced delays in its theatrical release.
The mother hits Netflix on Friday, May 12, just in time for Mother’s Day.
