Update: FOX3 News has been advised by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office that there are currently no ongoing active shooter situations.
Jackson County authorities are investigating a homicide that occurred near Hollis Street in the Jackson area.
The individual responsible for the incident is believed to be in the vicinity of M-50 and the Miles Road area.
A description of the suspect has been released identifying him as a black man in his twenties with dreadlocks.
Law enforcement is actively looking for the suspect.
On Monday, June 19, residents in the Hollis Street area received a shelter-in-place notice as a precautionary measure due to an ongoing situation involving an armed individual.
They were asked to stay indoors, report suspicious activity and contact 911 if necessary. Jackson officials have since confirmed they are investigating a homicide that occurred on Hollis Street in Summit Township.
However, it is important to note that there are currently no active shooter situations.
