Stanley Omah Didia, better known as Omah Lay, an award-winning Afropop artist, said he contemplated suicide during his depression.
During a chat with H Steph, the ‘Soso’ singer opened up about his mental health struggles and how he incorporates his struggle with depression into his music.
Omah Lay said going through depression was divine because it allowed her to help people who are now depressed.
The 25-year-old also said he will continue to create authentic songs based on his experiences.
He said; “I was on the verge of…I was suicidal, mahn. Believe me, I was really screwed. But I think I have to be there to help the people who are there right now get out of this place.
I mean it will take a real person like me to go there and then make music out of it and talk so openly about how messed up I am and how I think and how screwed up I am and everything.
“I’m not sure you’ll find any afrobeat artists doing that right now. Everyone says afrobeats aren’t that deep, “afrobeats are just vibes and shit”. No. That’s why everyone is just hype. Real music is dying.

Omah Lay, a well-known Afropop singer, has revealed that his girlfriend is a lesbian.
The “Soso” singer said so in a post on his Instagram page, where he previously expressed his endless admiration for Tiwa Savage.
Omah Lay claims his girlfriend told him she had a boyfriend besides him as her boyfriend.
Omah Lay, who is delighted with this information, praised Abraham’s God for the blessing.
He wrote:
“My daughter just opened that she has a daughter
Dear God, Abraham’s blessing has no scope like this”
Remember Omah Lay was romantically linked to a Gloria Eberechi but the relationship did not last long as they broke up in September 2021.
