Isiah Thomas is an American former professional basketball player and coach who currently works as a commentator for NBA TV. He has been a member of the network since its inception on December 19, 2012.
In addition, he is a regular panelist on NBA on TNT’s Monday coverage of Players Only. Former NBA players are the only ones who host the show. He was a member of the Detroit Pistons from 1981 to 1994 before becoming a basketball coach.

He began his professional basketball career in 1981 after the Detroit Pistons selected him with the second overall pick. He accepted a four-year, $1.6 million contract. Isiah faced Bernard King and the New York Knicks in the NBA playoffs of 1984; he was fouled out and the New York Knicks won.
The Pistons faced off against the 15-time NBA champion Boston Celtics in the 1985 NBA playoffs. Isiah and his side ultimately suffered a defeat after a thrilling game. The Pistons and Celtics met again in the NBA playoffs of 1987, but this time the series ended in a draw after two rounds. However, Larry Bird dashed their hopes. After 32 years, they finally made it to the championship game when they faced the Celtics the next year and triumphed.
