Injuries reported after dust storm causes massive pile-up along I-55 south of Springfield, Illinois

A multi-vehicle accident has closed both sides of Interstate 55 under Springfield. A dust storm was apparently affecting the area at the time of the accident.

Illinois State Police closed the highway from mile markers 52 through 80 in both directions.

At least 100 vehicles involved according to Farmersville Fire.

Divernon town hall is being used as a meeting place for the families of those involved in the accident, according to the FAI.

FAI Troop 6 and Troop 8 are currently dealing with the major accident.

Drivers are suggested to research alternative routes to their destinations.
