According to Indiana State Police Sgt. Brian Walker, Michael Emmons, involved in the Kendallville shooting incident, has been verified to have died following a prolonged confrontation.
At 6:05 am Thursday morning, the agents were able to enter the apartment where the shooter had barricaded himself.
It is reported that the shooter was transported by ambulance but died en route.
Sergeant Walker notes that there were over 200 officers present at the scene and thankfully no law enforcement personnel were injured in the confrontation.
In addition, two residents of the building were not injured, according to authorities.
Due to the current situation, East Noble Community Schools and St. John’s Lutheran School have declared closure for the day.
Law enforcement said the scene was being cleared.
Sergeant Walker said the shooter fired several hundred rounds during the standoff.
