Illinois police say a 15-year-old girl who had been missing for three days has been found dead. The discovery of his body prompted DeKalb police to open a homicide investigation.
In a May 7 press release, police said they had arrested a man known to the victim. Although the police did not reveal the girl’s identity, her relatives identified her on social media as Gracie Sasso.
On Saturday, DeKalb authorities were notified of the disappearance of a 15-year-old girl and her family said she was last seen Thursday night at a DeKalb home based on phone records.

DeKalb police say they have opened a homicide investigation and a man known to the victim has been arrested following a search warrant at a nearby home, although formal charges are pending.
According to Shaw Local, police said the public was not in danger. The victim was a 15-year-old freshman at DeKalb High School, and the entire school district is mourning the tragic loss, according to an email from district superintendent Minerva Garcia-Sanchez, as reported by Shaw Local.
The victim’s family and friends have set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for a Sweet Sixteen funeral that will celebrate Gracie’s happy memories.
