After Prigozhin led his paramilitary group from Ukraine into Russia, taking over two cities and driving his men towards Moscow in the past 24 hours, chaos has rocked that country’s military and political establishment. After talks with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, however, Prigozhin reportedly decided to abandon the armed takeover.
The uprising posed the gravest existential threat to Putin’s regime since he came to power in Russia more than two decades ago.
Intelligence analyst Koffler’s nine-minute rant on Fox News claimed that Putin planned the coup to increase his political power in Russia.
Eric, my analysis of the intelligence indicates that this is a classic false flag operation behind which Putin and Prigozhin are behind, Koffler told the cable host. The Prigozhin man is not a fool. He’s a smart former prisoner. From being a prisoner to running a hot dog stand to managing a multi-million dollar catering company that served the Kremlin, including Putin himself, he completely changed his life.
Koffler points out that while Putin’s National Guard, which was created in 2016 to quell social unrest, has 340,000 conscripted men in the group and Wagner’s forces were “tracked at every minute” by Russian security services, the Wagner group has only 50,000 members in Ukraine.
What’s changed about that in the last few hours, again? He made this deal all of a sudden, turning his troops around. No, this is all wrong,” she continued. The analyst then made what appeared to be the claim that Putin had boosted military recruitment using the uprising.
Koffler claims that Putin wants us to believe that he is powerless and that a military uprising is a constant threat. As a result, Putin has already declared martial law under this pretext. He changed the law today to impose a 30-day prison sentence on anyone who breaks martial law. Another very intriguing and illuminating point is that Putin recently allowed men with criminal backgrounds to serve in the military.
“So this serves as justification for further mobilization of Russian forces to put them through the meat grinder in Ukraine. Plus, it’s a way to prove to President Biden that Russia is not a threat. In fact “As you may know, Russia is having internal difficulties. But it’s all just a standard distraction from Putin,” she claimed.
“It reminds me of the three-dimensional chess you describe. Shawn replied to Koffler, “That kind of thinking is just beyond that.
Koffler made a prediction about Putin’s continued power near the end of his interview, suggesting he could use the coup to depose Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
“Putin will gain momentum, mobilize more personnel and relaunch his offensive against Ukraine in the meantime,” she said in closing.
