By India Today World Desk: Raging fire erupted at a 16-storey building situated in Pakistan’s Karachi on Saturday night in which one person was injured, Geo News reported. The fire broke out in the high-rise building near the nursery stop in Karachi’s main artery Sharea Faisal, reports said.

According to local media reports, as many as 12 fire tenders and two snorkels were present at the spot. Several water tankers and two water bowsers were also present at the site to ensure a steady supply of water to contain the blaze, The International News reported.

The inferno, rated by fire tenders as third-degree, started on a billboard on top of the building and subsequently engulfed the entire building, Geo News reported, quoting sources.

Initially, three fire brigade vehicles arrived at the scene in an attempt to extinguish the blaze. The chief fire officer said the blaze was largely contained.

“There were some people on the eighth floor of the building, called the Portway Trade Centre, which is right beside a petrol pump,” an eye-witness told Geo News.
