Ex-England and Manchester United star Wes Brown – who earned £50,000 a week on his playing days – ‘is declared bankrupt’ at the High Court
Former England and Manchester United footballer Wes Brown has reportedly been declared bankrupt by the High Court.
HMRC filed for bankruptcy against Brown, who was earning £50,000 a week during his playing days at Old Trafford, on February 27, according to the Daily Mirror.
The petition was approved by the High Court on April 12.
Defender Brown, 43, was part of United’s first team for 15 years after coming through the ranks of the club’s academy at Old Trafford.
He made 362 appearances for the club, winning five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, two League Cups and two Champions Leagues during an illustrious career.
Brown was capped 23 times for England and also played for Sunderland and Blackburn Rovers after leaving United in 2011.
