A 30-year-old taxi driver was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl while driving her to school, South East Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rajesh Deo said. The police informed that the accused had been identified as Mohd Azhar.

According to the police, the accused was arrested on the basis of a complaint registered by the mother of the victim.

DCP Deo added, “The complainant reported that the accused driver hired a taxi to transport his six-year-old daughter to school.”

“On Wednesday, the victim informed her mother that the taxi driver had inappropriately touched her private parts while transporting her from school for about a year,” DCP added.

Police said that based on the complaint of the victim’s mother, an FIR was registered under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Injury Act. sexual offenses at Shaheen Bagh police station.

“Based on the victim’s mother’s complaint, an FIR law u/s 376 IPC and 6 POSCO was registered at Shaheen Bagh Police Station,” DCP Deo said.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
