‘Dancing With the Stars’ Announces New Host to Replace Tyra Banks

Dancing with the stars brings in a veteran of the show as its new host.

Julianne Hough will co-host season 32 of the dance competition series alongside Alfonso Ribeiro, Disney+ announcement Monday.

Hough has a long history with the show having been a professional dancer and won the Mirrorball Trophy with Olympian Apolo Anton Ohno and race car driver Hélio Castroneves. She then joined the judges’ table for seasons 19–21 and seasons 23 and 24.

News of Hough’s hiring comes just days after Tyra Banks announced she would be leaving the show.

The model and entrepreneur told TMZ she went on to focus on her business empire.

“I think it’s time for me to really focus on my business and my entrepreneurship, and also produce more television, but behind the scenes,” she said. “I think it’s time to move from the dance floor to the stock market.”

The star joined the ABC series as host and executive producer in 2020, in a shakeup that saw hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews leave the show.

In 2022, amid declining ratings, ABC moved the TV show to Disney+ after 15 years and 30 seasons.

The network also tapped Alfonso Ribeiro as co-host for season 31. Ribeiro competed and won the top prize in the 19th season of DWTS. He also hosted the national event Dancing with the stars visit.
