Chris Renkel is an American Emmy award-winning sports anchor and reporter currently working with Local 12 at WKRC-TV, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He joined the Local 12 Sports Team in August 2019 and specializes in long-form and short-form storytelling and anchoring.

Renkel attended Westlake High School, in Westlake, Ohio, where he studied from 2005 to 2009. He then joined Ball State University graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunications and Journalism News. From 2009 to 2013, he took part in Newslink Indiana, Ball State Sports Link, and WCRD 91.3 FM.

On August 2011, he started working as a freelance photographer for WISH-TV, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He covered local high school football games for ”The Zone” every Friday night during football season. His responsibilities included shooting, editing, and writing highlights until November 2011. He then joined WFFT-Local, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, as a sports reporter and intern on November 2011. He worked until August 2012, shooting, editing, writing, and covering sporting events around the Fort Wayne area. Renkel covered local stories and packaged them together for use in daily sportscasts and also worked as a producer, photographer, and on-air reporter.
Renkel then joined KIFW News Group on July 2013, serving as a weekend sports anchor and sports reporter. He served with the station for two years and one month until June 2015. On August 2015, he joined WIAT 42 as a sports reporter and multimedia journalist until July 2019. On August 2019 he joined Local 12, at WKRC-TV, in Cincinnati, Ohio as a sports anchor and reporter. He has served the station on a full-time basis to the present, Renkel specializes in long-form and short-form storytelling and anchoring and has served the station for four years and one month to date.
