CCTV footage showing how a police officer was killed in the attack on a bullion van in Ablekuma

Armed robbers attacked the van minutes after it arrived to withdraw cash at the station.

Videos of the incident show members of the public rescuing the police officer who was shot and killed in a van.

The policeman was only identified as Amoah from his badge.

A statement released by Star Oil said: “We would like to express our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased policeman and to the Ghana Police Service.”

He said he would provide further details of the incident to the police.

“We will provide further details on this incident after further consultation with the Ghanaian police,” Star Oil promised in its statement.

The police department says it’s on a manhunt for robbers.

Armed robbery on a van at Star Oil Ablekuma Fanmilk Station

Accra, Ghana – June 22, 2023 – Star Oil is deeply saddened to report an armed robbery at our Ablekuma Fanmilk station on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at approximately 1:30 p.m. The thieves attacked the van minutes after it arrived to collect money at the station.

We wish to assure all of our customers and the general public that as a responsible organization we have adequate security systems in place at our stations to facilitate police investigations.

We also take this opportunity to urge the general public to exercise caution in publishing unverified accounts of the incident.

We will provide more details on this incident after further consultation with the Ghana Police.
