Case against watchful cows for allegedly beating a Muslim to death in Karnataka

Puneet Kerehalli, leader of a so-called “cow protection force”, is on the run.

A Muslim man was reportedly beaten to death on Saturday by so-called cow protectors in Karnataka. The accused, Puneet Kerehalli, allegedly arrested cattle trader Idris Pasha in the afternoon while he was transporting cattle. Idris allegedly provided cattle market papers but Puneet demanded Rs 2 lakh and beat him and his associates when he refused to pay.

The body of Idris Pasha was found along a road in Sathnur village in Ramanagara district of Karnataka.

Puneet Kerehalli, leader of a so-called “cow protection force”, is on the run.

Police have registered a case for murder, undue duress and intentional insult with intent to cause a breach of the peace.

The region is within the constituency of the State Congress Speaker, DK Shivakumar.
