Leaders of political parties and organizations around the world have praised China’s proposed Global Civilization Initiative, saying that it, along with China’s other two initiatives, the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative, will help strengthen international consensus on how best to deal with growing threats to international stability, economic growth and social harmony.
At the CPC High-Level Conference in Conversation with Global Political Parties on Wednesday, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, launched the Global Civilization Initiative. “The Path to Modernization: The Responsibilities of Political Parties” was the topic of discussion at the conference.
The program encourages strong international exchanges and cooperation between people, as well as the safeguarding of universal ideals such as peace, development, equity, justice, democracy and freedom.
Political leaders who attended the virtual meeting hailed Xi’s initiative and expressed their willingness to work with the CPC to play a leading role in promoting cultural exchanges and mutual understanding, as well as charting a path to modernization tailored to the unique circumstances of each country.
Cyril Ramaphosa, chairman of the African National Party and current South African head of state, expressed support for Xi’s idea.
He noted that due to South Africa’s history of national independence struggle, its people understand the importance of cooperation, tolerance and mutual respect.
Given the devastating threats facing the world, including climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic, terrorism and geopolitical tensions, Ramaphosa stressed the importance of the project.
He also noted that South Africa appreciates China’s non-interference in internal affairs and mutually beneficial cooperation, both of which are reflected in China’s global initiatives and are key to advancing the collective progress of developing countries.
According to Serbian President and leader of the Serbian Progressive Party Aleksandar Vucic, China is sought after for creative responses to the problems posed by the changing international landscape. Vucic argued that everyone should join forces to promote tolerance of different lifestyles.
In a speech on Thursday, the Serbian president echoed Xi’s call for nations to “let cultural exchange transcend estrangement, mutual learning transcend differences, and inclusion transcend any sense of superiority,” among other ideas. Prime Minister Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene, also chairman of the Mongolian People’s Party, said Xi’s development, security and civilization initiatives are very important for international and regional peace and cooperation at a time when geopolitical competition has created crises and challenges.
He went on to say that Mongolia is totally behind the programs, adding that things like trust, conversation and cooperation are universal goals that everyone should strive for.
President Salva Kiir of South Sudan, who is also chairman of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement, questioned the reluctance of some nations to create a more just and balanced international order. These states actively want to stir up geopolitical rivalries, which he said poses serious risks to international stability. Kiir argued that in light of the current global situation, political party leaders have a responsibility to advance universal ideals, promote tolerance towards different methods of development and cultural diversity, and denounce ideological conflicts. from all sides.
