“You can’t fit into the clothes you used to wear or you see you’re not as young as you used to be, it’s a constant challenge.”

WHAT IS AN ECTOPIC PREGNANCY?

An ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg implants outside the uterus, usually in one of the fallopian tubes.

The fallopian tubes are the tubes connecting the ovaries to the uterus. If an egg gets stuck in it, it won’t develop into a baby and your health could be at risk if the pregnancy continues.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to save the pregnancy. It usually needs to be removed with medication or an operation.

In the UK, around 1 in 90 pregnancies are ectopic. This represents approximately 11,000 pregnancies per year.
