Alexandra Burke made her first TV appearance since announcing she was expecting her second baby – appearing on This Morning on Wednesday.

The singer, 34, revealed she and her footballer boyfriend Darren Randolph were expecting baby number two on Instagram on Tuesday – eight months after welcoming their first child.

Alexandra was praised by hosts Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond for her show as she spoke of her joy.

The hitmaker then shared details about a debilitating health condition she suffered from – IBS – saying she hoped to raise awareness of her symptoms.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common condition that affects the digestive system.

It causes symptoms like stomach cramps, bloating, diarrhea, and constipation. These tend to come and go over time and can last for days, weeks, or months at a time.

Alexandra said: ‘The joke was that after having all these symptoms I would also think it was anxiety or something else that triggered it. Anxiety played a huge role in all of this.

“I was skipping meals before shows because all the pain came after eating. I would be hungry and put on a show.

“It was so bad and it got to the point where I was like ‘I can’t take this anymore.

She revealed that she started struggling in her early twenties right after appearing on X Factor.

She admitted: “It got to the point where I felt out of control and it was an out of body experience,” but added that she felt too embarrassed to talk about it at the time, even though she was “in agony”.

Announcing her pregnancy on social media on Tuesday, Alexandra wrote: ‘We are so excited to do it all over again’, alongside a photo of her latest pregnancy.

WHAT IS ICS?

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common bowel disorder that results in stomach pain, gas, diarrhea, and constipation.

The condition affects between 25 and 45 million Americans.

About two out of three of them are women.

Most people show their first symptoms of IBS before the age of 40.

The cause of the disease is unknown, but it is thought to be due to abnormalities in the gut bacteria.

Symptoms can be managed, but there is no cure for IBS.

Treatment involves taking care of yourself by changing your diet, lifestyle, and exercise.

The diet low in fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides and polyols (FOMAP) is considered effective for people with IBS.

It contains eggs, meat, fruits and vegetables, while avoiding dairy products and wheat.

Alexandra and her footballer boyfriend Darren, 35, welcomed their first baby just eight months ago – but she chose not to reveal his name or gender.

The superstar affectionately calls her first-born Grape and once wrote about her love for her baby on Mother’s Day alongside a sweet photo.

She wrote: ‘My first Mother’s Day as a mum…I feel very blessed. I can’t thank my husband enough for making me feel so special and loved.

‘My little baby Grape – thank you for making me a better person. For making me the best version of myself and showing myself in a way that I never thought I could… I’m so lucky to be your mother.

Vicky Pattison was among the first to congratulate Alexandra on her baby news, writing: ‘Omg! Congratulations girls.’

And JLS singer Oritse Williams also wrote, “Congrats Al.”

Her happy announcement comes just days after Alexandra told MailOnline she had no problem with Darren moving clubs and leaving her alone to raise their baby.

She told MailOnline she only sees partner Darren twice a week after the goalkeeper joined Bournemouth in January from Premier League rivals West Ham United.

The West End star said although it’s ‘difficult’ with Darren living and working on the outside, she learned to ‘adapt’ and becoming a first-time mum last year showed her how to how “incredible” women are.

She said: “Whether it’s children or your life in general, women just adapt. No shade to men, I think men are great… but women, oh my, we’re making milk to cry out loud!

She explained: “My partner has just moved to Bournemouth, bless him so he’s not really there. It makes it really difficult for me, but we make it work.

Alexandra has sparked speculation that she secretly married Darren after calling him ‘my husband’ on Instagram last week.

But she confirmed to MailOnline that the couple are not yet engaged and that ‘wife’ and ‘husband’ are just their nicknames for each other.

She said: “Let me be very clear about this…I called him ‘husband’ because he calls me ‘wife’ and those are just nicknames for each other. “

“We have to remind him to put a ring on it. It’s just a nickname but maybe I made a mistake calling it that. It’s his name in my phone so I don’t know what to tell people! There is no rush, when it has to happen, it will happen.

Alexandra, from Islington, shot to fame in 2008 when she won the X Factor aged 19 and performed a duet with superstar Beyoncé in the final.

After 15 years of unstoppable hard work, the singer had chart-topping songs with Bad Boys, Start Without You and Broken Heels, as well as finishing second on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017.

She has since performed in a number of West End shows including Chicago, The Bodyguard and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which she performed in during her pregnancy and returned to shortly after giving birth.
