18-year-old Alex Bendall, known as Alice, was reported missing from Dorchester, Dorset on February 12. The body of a missing teenager was found in a river two months after she went missing. Tragically, Dorset Police said a body had been found in the River Frome in the Lubbecke Way area of Dorchester at around 3 pm. m. of Saturday.
Alex, known to her family by the pronouns ‘she’ and ‘she’, was due to start a new job caring for people with dementia and had a driving test booked for the days after she disappeared.
In an appeal last month, Alex’s father, Paul Bendall, 60, said: “It’s like someone put a bomb on the family and we’re all torn apart.” We just want you to be home with the family so we can be whole again. Her mother, Vicky, had said: ‘You have a lot to live for. It’s out of place to wander off without telling us where she might be.

In the weeks following her disappearance, extensive searches were carried out in the area involving the National Police Air Service, Dorset Search and Rescue, Wiltshire Search and Rescue, Dorset Search Dogs, Search and Rescue Dogs from Hampshire and Wessex 4×4.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner has been informed, as well as Alex’s heartbroken family. A Dorset Police spokesman said: “A body sadly found in a river in Dorchester is believed to be that of a missing Dorchester-area teenager.”

‘The report of the discovery in the River Frome in the Lubbecke Way area was received by Dorset Police at around 3 p.m. m. on Saturday. “Although a formal identification has not yet been made, it is believed to be 18-year-old Alex Bendall, who was reported missing on Sunday, February 12.”
