Baltimore City Schools officials reported that a shooting in northeast Baltimore this morning claimed the life of an Achievement Academy student.
Sherry Christian, spokeswoman for Baltimore City Schools, said tomorrow was already scheduled to be a professional development day for students.
Christian also mentioned that the school will be offering counseling services to staff and students next week.
The incident happened at a gas station near the intersection of East Northern Parkway and McClean Boulevard, which is located less than half a mile from the school and even closer to sports fields .
Police were alerted to the shooting at the petrol station around 9.45am this morning.
Upon arrival, officers found an individual with gunshot wounds. According to police, the victim was taken to hospital, but later succumbed to his injuries.
