Glynn County GA – On May 20, 2023, at approximately 1:09 a.m., the Glynn County Police Department (GCPD) responded to a call for gunfire in the parking lot of the Retreat Village Shopping Plaza on Saint Simons Island.
Upon arrival, officers met the complainant, who reported the shots. The Complainant did not witness a shooting, only heard gunshots.
Officers then located the scene where an adult female victim was discovered with a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Shortly after, Glynn County Fire Rescue responded to the scene and attempted to save lives, however, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Glynn County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and assumed jurisdiction over the body. The victim is being transported to the GBI laboratory in Pooler, Georgia, where an autopsy and other forensic examinations will be performed.
Currently, GCPD detectives are actively interviewing people connected to this investigation and carrying out numerous investigative functions.
