A suspect barricaded himself inside Wells Fargo Bank Clarendon with hostages and demanded money

A bank in Clarendon is currently the site of a robbery and a potential hostage-taking, leading to the closure of roads in the surrounding area.

The Wells Fargo branch located at 3140 Washington Blvd was reportedly robbed around 3 p.m. by a man in his 20s who was still inside the bank with several employees and/or customers.

Police cordoned off the area and dispatched a negotiator and a SWAT team. Firefighters and doctors are stationed nearby in case of an emergency.

Police say the suspect indicated he possessed a weapon, but it remains unclear if he is actually armed.

Scanner traffic indicates that buses, including school buses, are being redirected to affected areas.
