Soon a new character will meet and greet, which is considered quite controversial.
Who comes to Disney World?
Love him or hate him, Figment is coming to Disney World soon to meet and greet guests.
Figment is a tiny purple dinosaur that is part of the Journey Into Your Imagination With Figment attraction. Figment is technically a “figment” of your imagination as guests walk through the sensory labs to test their five senses. However, things don’t turn out accordingly because Figment is messing around.
Although the character is so beloved, others, mainly those who didn’t grow up with Figment, find the purple dinosaur boring and unnecessary. Figment will soon be coming to EPCOT at Walt Disney World despite the controversy surrounding it.
The company recently announced that Figment will begin welcoming guests this summer, although an exact date has yet to be released.
Fans speak out
Disney fans didn’t hold back their opinions on a Figment meet and greet at Disney World. While some are thrilled, others aren’t convinced it’s a good idea.

While another fan, who is in favor of meet and greet, talked about Pride month and how announcing it in June was a great idea. “Figment is very 🌈🌈🌈 so I think it’s appropriate to reveal his new encounter this month 😄😄😄,” they tweeted.

The original Journey Into Your Imagination attraction opened at EPCOT on March 5, 1983, featuring Dreamfinder, Figment and the iconic song “One Little Spark.” In the original ride, Dreamfinder took guests as it gathered materials to inspire new ideas. With the help of his imagination, he creates a companion named Figment, the dinosaur guests know today.
The Disney Parks attraction was later redesigned, and in 1999 it became Journey Into Your Imagination. The ride underwent another reimagining, and the current version, Journey Into Imagination with Figment, debuted in 2002 and has remained the same ever since.
Speaking of the ride, Disney says, “Beleaguered Institute President Dr. Nigel Channing (played by Eric Idle) sets out to prove how the five senses capture the imagination, but mischievous Figment surpasses him!”
Their website continues: “Be prepared for many surprises as you journey through a series of vivid and whimsical sensory labs. Learn about the five senses as Figment turns the lab upside down and causes quite a stink in the Smell Lab. Let your imagination run wild in this wonderful, crazy musical adventure!
