15-year-old boy shot and killed outside Theodore Roosevelt High School in northwest Washington, DC

Update: A 15-year-old boy who was shot in the parking lot of Roosevelt High School this afternoon has died, a member of the DC Council told FOX3.

Police say a shooting occurred Wednesday at Theodore Roosevelt High School in northwest Washington, DC, resulting in the death of a teenage boy.

After receiving a report of the shooting in the parking lot behind the school on 13th Street NW, DC police and firefighters quickly responded to the scene.

Police said the teenager was taken to hospital in critical condition by medical staff.

Witnesses reported seeing doctors administer CPR to the young boy. As a precaution, Roosevelt High School, MacFarland Middle School and Dorothy I. Height Elementary School have been quarantined.

Powell Elementary School is currently on “high alert,” as communicated by DC Public Schools.

In order to facilitate the ongoing police investigation, blocks 4300 to 4400 of Iowa Avenue NW have been closed in both directions.
