According to a report, at least 1.5 million illegal immigrants identified as “getaways” crossed the border during the Biden administration.
The term refers to the estimated number of illegal immigrants who entered the country and were not apprehended, which reached 530,000 in fiscal year 2023 with four months remaining, the New York Post reported. This is in addition to the estimated 600,000 “getaways” from 2022 and 389,000 from 2021.

The tally of Biden administration “getaways” tops 1.5 million, nearly four times the 415,000 estimated in the last three years of the Trump administration.
The total for fiscal year 2023 is expected to increase after the expiration of Title 42 of the COVID-19 Contingency Policy, which allowed the Biden administration to refuse migrants at the border in order to prevent the spread of COVID.

Two days later, the same judge denied the administration’s request to stay the temporary restraining order blocking the releases.
